Nicolas Ghesquiere's latest collection for Balenciaga takes wonderful inspiration from ballet. The soft, muted colors, frilly details and head scarves all contribute to a pleasing collection. Yet, the looks were still balanced with leather harnesses (something I am really into at the moment as Taylor Tomasi-Hill has been ever-so-inspiring). The cut-out leather tops paired with peplum skirts were more soft than Balenciaga in recent years. The innovating element still came out in the incredibly structured detail on the bottom of the skirts and the cuts on the vests.
I am really in love with the futuristic bowtie boots as well.
This season it seems like designers - in the fiaso of seasons - are trying to create a more wearble, "easy" pieces for their resort collections. Something that is less cruise ship and more transition pieces that can be a cameleon of sorts into the landscape of all seasons.
