If there is any designer that is doing well right now it is Phillip Lim. With a long wait list for items of his spring collection and fall rolling in, the 3.1 P.L cash registers will be busy at work. Here is a review of his fall 2009 collection.
With the Lissy Trullie and her band playing for the whole show, the Lim runway was rocking. That was one of the basis's of his collection. Another trend that was in the Lim show was the masculine-feminine contrast that we are seeing this fall (i.e the boyfriend jacket and boyfriend jeans).
The models walk out with early Beatles hair dos to the beat of Lissy Trullie's band. The inspiration for this collection was 60's London. With more women wearing men's clothes and switching to the short skinny jean, it was the true time of the masculine-feminine. With this inspiration Lim put together a collection that consisted of blazers, mini dresses, skinny pants, sequins and fur.
My favorite look consisted of: a flyer's hat, cropped black biker jacket, architectual mini dress, plum tights and black and white pumps. All the looks were put together with so much thought and kept true to the inspiration all along.
So, the verdict? A collection that was a 9 out of 10. Why not a ten? Because it was not the best collection that we have seen from Lim, and you really have to watch it twice to really feel the vibe and like it.
